Default Turkey hunting

There are all kinds of wild turkeys around here. I have a neighbor who has been slowly chopping at a tree on his property. I asked him what he was doing. He explained that the turkeys like to sleep in this tree. He told me how he plans to chop it little by little so he can rig it to fall when they all come in to land one night. This is his strange way to try and hunt turkey. Thoughts?

This might just be the funniest way to hunt that I have ever heard of and I doubt that it is illegal if you do it with intent. Still he could claim he was just trying to chop a tree down and the turkey's were just being stupid.

This is quite dangerous. What if a kid walks by the tree? I won't describe what will happen but I guess you guys got my point.
