Nope, I haven't tried placing a skeg or a rudder below the kayak. I don't know how to control the rudder while paddling at the same time. Is it better to have a rudder in kayak?
Usually there is either a foot control or some time of hand wire control for the rudder. The smaller kayaks tend to have a rudder to help keep them on track. The longer the kayak the better the track on it normally. There are always exceptions to the rule though depending on your kayak.
