Default Cattail Root

This one would be in the category of survival food. If you are in a marshy area with plenty, dig up enough cattail root to feed the number of people you have. peel and clean the cattail root. Boil water until it comes to a rolling boil. Add salt to water and drop cattail root, cut into sections in the boiling salted water. Cook until tender and eat. It's not the best stuff in the world but it's nice to know you can eat it if you have to.

Hmmm I've never heard you could eat cattail roots before. I'm going to have to gather some and try it now just to say I've tried it. I would say they have a texture about like asparagus wouldn't you think? I'm going to do this and try an experiment and see what they're like. Maybe if you put enough butter on them they would be delicious.

Give me enough butter and salt and I'll eat about anything! Seriously, it's not as bad as it sounds. It's decent. Not something I would like to have all of the time but if you don't have anything else, it's better than a bug.
