Default Cooking over the fire

When camping, how much of your food do you cook over the fire? We are pretty new at this, so I am always looking for some great recipes to try on my family. We always see other families cooking directly over the fire and it smells so good. Any good recipes or advice for a family with kids who are picky eaters?

There are a lot of soups and chilis that are easy and tasty that you can cook over the fire. You can always go with the traditional hot dogs.

Right, hotdog is always a good choice, you roast them over a fire with a help of stick. Another option is German sausage. You can serve it in a long bread, depending on the sausage length. You can even roast marshmallows for dessert to go along with the chocolate chip cookies.

What type of picky are your kids? My sisters and I have done taco salads with beans that we've heated over the fire. Are you looking more for breakfast food or dinner/lunch? You could make a paella with rice that is pretty delicious as well.
