Default Do you like your meat charred?

For some reason I like the taste of meat when its been slightly charred by an open flame. I've tried, but there is no way you can get the same taste from a pan or skillet, it just tastes burnt.

Who else likes their meat a little charred?

I do like my meat a little bit charred.

Have you notice the fats oozing out when you are grilling the meat? I think its the fats that makes the charred meat tasty.

The only thing that I've done at home to simulate that charred flavor you are talking about is using the broiler or using my George Foreman grill. Both will get you close to the same taste, although they don't come close to the flavor you get when cooking over a wood fire.

I like my hot dogs a little on the blackened side but as for other meats I don't really like them charred. You are right enjoytheclimb there is nothing better than food cooked on an open flame.

I don`t mind hot dogs or hamburgers a little charred. I have never cooked any other kind of meat at camp. I can just imagine what a steak cooked over an open campfire would taste like. Mmmm, lol just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

I do not like ANY burnt taste on any of my food. I'm a lightly browned type of girl. My daughter loves her meat charred! I hate it! It is hard to grill out for both of us and please us both.

Steak over an open flame is the best thing ever! It is fine the way it is, no extra seasoning needed. My favorite way is to cut the steak into cubes and cook it on a skewer... kabob style!

Oh gosh yes! I've always liked things a little on the too done side! I don't like hotdogs until they are burnt and I like fried bologna the same way. Put it on a bun or bread with some mustard and Ummmmmmmmmmm.

I'm not a fan of eating charred meat. I thought eating charred meat causes cancer, I just read it in some health section in the magazine.

We eat a lot of things that causes diseases so why exclude charred meat?

I also like my meat to be a bit charred. I want my meat to be slowly cooked through an open fire but I can't wait to gobble up the meat when the smell the meat being cooked.
