I usually go with a dry rub. I find it easy to tweak to your tastes, and tastes better.
I am about the same for the most part, but I also use the sauce for dipping more than anything. The rub gives it an extra kick than I like and the sauce, well I like to dip?
I do both dry rub, marinade, whatever. Not picky. I guess if I have time then marinade, if no time then dry rub. As long as I have a beer in my hand and a grill or smoker going I am good to go.
