Not sure about exotic, but I have eaten a wide variety of not-so-popular critters and plants. Probably bugs would fall into the exotic or not so common category. Worms are loaded with something like 6 or 8 essential proteins and palatable if you toss them in a pot and let them dry out. Then you can crush them up and put them into a salad. I have also had roasted grasshopper, ants, grubs, meal worms... mostly on beer-dares with camping buddies when we were younger. I don't regularly make a meal of insects; I do prefer more common foods lol.
I graze pine trees frequently, dandelions, nettles, fiddle-heads, sweet grass, clover etc.
I have eaten seaweed and different types of shellfish, octopus, shark, squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs, pigeons, all manner of game foul and of course big game. I have also had bear, although I was not real big on it. I found it greasy and very gamey.
I don't mind trying new things as I don't get too squeamish about it. I am also a big fan of foraging while I am hiking and camping.
Ha ha, I have friends who love Dim Sum in this place downtown where the menus are all in Chinese. I'll eat bugs from the forest, but I won;t do Dim Sum with them because I do like to know what I am eating.
