Default Just taste better

There is something about corn on the cob that just taste better when it's roasted in a campfire. Anyone roast their corn? What is is that just tastes better?

Roasting corn brings out the natural sugars in the kernels. I agree with you that campfire corn on the cob is the best! If it wasn't so high in carbs I'd eat it every night.

I have been wanting to try this but I am not sure how to go about preparing it. Do you keep it in the husk and do you need to soak it or what?

Corn on the cob does taste great over the grill or fire. I usually peel back the husks without tearing them off. Remove the silks. Soak in a bucket of water for 30 minutes to 1 full hour. Put the husks on or over the fire and turn often so the husks don't catch fire and the corn cooks evenly.

I do something similar to failghe, but I add one thing. Before putting on the grill, I pull the husk back and mix in some spiced butter on the corn then cover back up with the husk and roast.

There are different ways of grilling a corn and I do what Jason is doing. Sometimes I remove all the husks and expose the kernels over the heat of the campfire. I take off the wood of the campfire so that the heat is not so much to burn the corn. The smell of a burning corn is mouth watering.

Same as failghe's method. I'd season the corn with butter, salt and pepper with a little bit of sugar in it then put back the husk on it before roasting it over the fire.

My corns tend to be grilled minus their husk. I haven't had a roasted corn on a cob yet but this time it will be included in our menu on the next camping trip.

I think it has something to do with the butter but that is my story and I am sticking to it. Really though the butter has to be the key, you can add just about anything into it to make it a little different, too much variety!
