Default Pie irons!

Last night we used pie irons to make pizza sandwiches over the campfire (In the back yard). We got the fire going good and then let it burn down a bit. We put the irons on top of the hot coals. I swear it took forever to get the bread toasty. Is there a trick to this?

You have to be careful not too put the pie iron in too deep. You can burn the handle this way. The trick is to be sure to keep flipping it over in the coals. Make sure you have hot coals too.
