Honestly, I just got a shiver up my spine going through this thread again. Although, I would love to hear of an increased interest in rattlesnakes for food - maybe then we could kill them all!

Snake meat has virtually no natural flavor. It's the texture of chicken, but very bland. The flavor all comes from how you prepare it. If you use something nasty, it will taste nasty. You can eat them in a survival situation, venomous or non-venomous. Just lop off the head, slit the belly, and peel the skin off. There's not that much meat on one, but you can get a few good bites.

I have never tried it but I probably would. I have heard that it kind of tastes like chicken. Of course people say most things taste like chicken.

They said that about frog legs too but they do NOT taste like chicken. I once had snake stew without knowing it. When they told me I wound up with my head in the toilet for about a half of an hour bringing it all back up again-yuck. Never again!

No way! Ugh. I'd rather eat some calamari rings with sweet and sour dipping than fried rattlesnakes. I'm also terrified of snakes especially when I get near them!
