Default Chocolate Gravy for Biscuits

One of my kids favorite things is chocolate gravy to go over biscuits when we camp. It's yummy and will actually go over pancakes if you don't want to fool with biscuits. I have fixed it to go over chocolate chip pancakes before and we all love it.

Chocolate Gravy

2/3 Cup Sugar
3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 Tablespoons cocoa of your choice-I use Hershey's but everybody has their own favorites. Ghiardelli now makes cocoa powder too.
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Water
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

In sauce pan combine sugar, flour, cocoa, milk, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat or at the edge of the fire, whisking constantly. Boil, stirring often until thickened and bubbly! Stir in butter and vanilla. Serve over warm biscuits or pancakes.

Yummmmmmmmmm See all of the chocolate grins you get after you serve this one but make sure the kids have somewhere to run off the sugar and caffeine high!

Can this be made in advance so that all you have to do is warm it up when you are camping?
My kids would love this for sure. I bet it would taste good on french toast with some powdered sugar thrown on the top. YUM!

Oh I've had that! It's really good too. We live down south and we saw packets the other day in the store. All you had to do was add milk I think. I didn't stop to look at the packet because I was in a hurry. I do plan to get some though.

I have never had this, now normal biscuits and gravy yes but never with chocolate. I am not even sure how that would work. Right now, well this month I should say I am learning a new recipe that has been "passed down" in our family for bissies from nothing, I have yet to get it right.
