| All purpose knives What are the best all purpose knives for camping and general outdoor activities? The only thing I have is a small, maybe 4 inch blade that's attached to a utility set ( It also has various driver heads on it too).

| Leatherman are supposed to be top quality for multi-purpose knives. I have yet to try one though. The good old swiss army knives I've used. I did have a blade break on one of them though. Thankfully no one was hurt.

| I have had a few Leatherman. I should say I still have them too. They are fantastic and while occasionally some of the tools need sharpened it is true that they last forever.

| I found a Leatherman in 1993 and carried it around the world a few times. It broke it in half a few months ago, so I sent it to Portland just to see what would happen. It had been abused. The knife blade had been broken and re-shaped, the file was worn smooth, the cutters on the pliers were worn so bad that you could see through them when closed and the tips of the pliers went in two different directions. On Wednesday I recieved a new one in the mail. It will be on my hip from now on.

| For having a selection of tools, I'm really happy with my Swiss army knife. I found it while hiking the Seven Sisters in Western MA. (I even tried to find the owner, so I don't feel guilty.) The tools on it are generally pretty good. The saw is incredible; you've really got to see how well the thing cuts to believe it.
For a pocket knife, I've got a CRKT. Lovely knife for general all around stuff. I've been beating the crap out of this one for... maybe five years? Not a single problem with it, ever. I only own this one because I lost its predecessor when I was out one night.
For a fixed blade camping knife, I'm absolutely in love with my Mora. I clear branches with it. I cut fire wood with it. I fix dinner with it. My brother filleted a fish with his last weekend. I have no clue how I lived without this knife for so long. Even better, it was twelve USD; when using it for everything finally breaks it, I won't regret all the money I didn't spend on it.

| I always use the good ol' swiss army knife and it has never failed me once. I have been meaning to add a Leatherman to my collection as I have heard they are the best.

I like the Leatherman and Swiss knives a lot, own a few my self. But if I had to have only one knife to get by on, it would be a Swiss. Mine have held up so well I ended up passing it down to my Son after I upgraded to a larger model.

| Been using the Leatherman Skeletool. I actually wrote an entire gear review just for this forum and promptly lost it before posting. Anyway, it's an awesome tool.

If I could put that saw on my Leatherman I could take over the world!
