Default Improvised Hammock

I recall an episode on Man vs Wild wherein Grylls made an improvised hammock made of vines and branches. I would like to try it in the forest. I will still bring my own hammock if ever I fail to make an improvised one or I become lazy when I reach the site.

It sounds like that would take a lot of patience, especially if you've never done it before. The gratification of having accomplished something like would be awesome though.

I am not that well when it comes to making things from branches but I did catch that episode. I just swapped my DVR settings from the normal cable place to I think dish networks? I had to re-program everything, total pain, but this show I did remember.

I would love to see what you come up with and how you build it. This is one I have not tried as I don't use hammocks much. I find them uncomfortable. I have built pretty much everything else out of natural materials at one time or another. Be sure to take some pics of the process. That would make a great write-up!

I cannot imagine a worse torture than trying to sleep the night through in a hammock made from local materials. Why not just sleep on the ground?

Wild animals and creepy crawlies are always crawling on the ground. This is the main reason why Bear doesn't want to sleep on the ground. I also wouldn't like to sleep beside insects or snakes.

I will surely get a picture of it when I successfully made it.
