We are taking our 16 month old daughter camping with us for the first time this weekend! I am really excited about her first trip out with us. I hope she has a good time and that it's not too hot to be fun!

We are currently on our first camping trip with our 11 month old. Just to make life easier, we chose to stay in a camper instead of the tent. I hope the weather holds out for you and that you have a good time!
We took our girls for the first time when they were three years old. It was pretty hard at that age trying to watch everything they did. Now that they are nine though they are veterans.
Its so nice to see people doing it so young. If you start the kids at this age they have the chance to grow up with it, learning the ins and outs as they go. I hope you all get on well!
Oh that's wonderful! I can't believe you are going to go with a little one that young but more power to you IMHO. It's wonderful that you will be teaching your little one the ins and outs of the outdoor life. Those lessons have saved my bacon more times than I care to admit.
We didn't start camping until our boys were a little older, 8 and 6. They always managed to get into just about everything. I don't know if I would have been able to handle them as toddlers...good luck.
We started camping when our oldest was 8 months and we've been going ever since! Our boys are now 4 and 6 and they are already looking forward to the camping trips we have scheduled for the summer. Definitely good to get them going when they are little!
We started our kids out young in the woods and I'm glad we did. They've always enjoyed being outside even if it was in the backyard. Something about being outside has always mesmerized them as babies. Our third was the youngest to go camping at about 4 months old. It's great to see other people doing the same. You can teach the young so much by leading with examples on how to survive and how to leave no footsteps in mother nature. It makes for a more independent person in the adult world, if you ask me. If they can make it on a camp fire in the woods they can miles in the world with amenities.
Well put jdoc260 and you who take your children out to touch our awesome Earth. I have taken Young inner city children ...troubled youths....you know the ones who has never been hugged or had personal quality time with an adult or shown the great outdoors. I have had them break down and cry thanking me for that reward. Others I have seen smiles come across there fragile faces. There is something out there in the woods that we all need and long for even if it's a view from a car.
Good for all of you who take time for a child and open up there horizons to the world that sustains us.
I live to Backpack and I live well..........
