Default Campsite In The Smokey Mountains

Our kids went down to Gatlinburg, Tennessee just after the fourth of July holiday for a week of camping. They say it's beautiful down there and really not as hot as we are here in Kentucky. They called yesterday and said they actually saw a mother bear with THREE cubs. It's not that unusual to see but it was for them.

Thought you all should see the picture. It's amazing but I had to remind them that that WAS a wild animal and not to get to chummy with her since she has cubs to protect.

I've never seen a black bear with three cubs before. Granted I have only seen a couple of black bears but I thought they would only have one cub at a time. This is interesting!

I love Tennessee. It's such a beautiful state. That's pretty cool about the bear cubs - I didn't think they typically had that many at one time.

I go to the Smoky Mountains almost every year and I've seen bears with cubs, but never three of them. That's unusual.

I've been to both Tennessee and Kentucky and they are both gorgeous. As for the bears, I've never encountered one while camping, but I did see one at my sister's house in West Virginia in her backyard! An awesome sight to behold.

I've lived in Michigan my whole life, but always camped in the Smokey Mountains as a child. I just started getting back into camping again with my own children (my husband stays at home) and next summer I'm going to venture into the Smokey's for a week. I'd love to hear about preferred campgrounds and day excursions!
