I haven't been camping in years but I think it is time for me to start taking my girls who are 8 and 6. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of tent to get and where? We aren't going to be going anywhere very rugged just a campsite.

I have a Cabela's tent with the smaller room off of the back of the tent. That is where I put the port a jon for my daughter. I would think it would be safer for the girls and I didn't have to worry about them leaving the tent at night. With the curtain up it gives us both so privacy since she is 13 now. I try to make it as enjoyable for her as I can since she is the only one that goes with me now. The oldest daughter has married and the wife stays home
I camped several years with my daughter in a Coleman tent she got me for fathers day. It's 17X10 and still going strong. We camped in National Forest campground mostly. She was 11 when we started and now she's 18 so going camping is not a priority for her. Her mom would go now and then but mostly it was she and I. I now have a new camping buddy my 5 YO grandson. I never had any issues with safety.
