Default Rock climbing verses man made walls.

I'm considering getting into climbing and I was just wondering if trying the man made climbing walls is a good way to learn and get into shape to do this sport? Are there any rock climbers that get a good challenge from the man made climbing walls?

The great thing about man-made walls is that the peices are usually interchangeable, so that a wall can be made for beginners, intermediates, or experts. Definitely try a man-made wall if you're just starting and you can, and move up to the more difficult walls if you don't fee challenged enough.

I've only done the man-made climbing walls and for me this is a great change for my workout. If you've never tried climbing before, you will be surprised at the muscles you find. The first couple times I did it, I hurt in places I didn't think you could hurt.

I've been to a couple of rock parks and they were awesome. I'm not sure how they were made but they are real rocks. I have never rock climbed inside, are there places that actually set up rocks inside for people to climb on?

When my old bones were still up to it I did a lot of rock climbing. I never really tried any of the man made walls, but I would think they would be a great way to get started.

I think the man made walls are great for learning and they definitely help you get into shape. Personally I am still working on the beginner wall so it will be a while before I climb every mountain.

I think that man made walls are definitely good to get your body into shape for rock climbing physically but the actual thing is a totally different experience. It is a whole notch harder.

The man made walls are fine, but there is really no comparison to the real deal. The intensity of attention required on a real mountain, just can't be duplicated.

I think that they are the best way to learn the in's and out's of rock climbing. It is very safe and there are no surprises and you will have a professional near you at all times. It is also a good way to build upper body strength. But there is nothing like natural rock climbing.
