I've been spelunking all up and down the East Coast and from my personal experience, I'd have to say that Kentucky and West Virginia have some of the best.
From what I've seen, heard and read, I would have to say the Appalachians of West Virginia. There's probably spelunking sites they haven't even found yet.
I don't know really, I am trying to learn more about this so I can do it too. I live on the East coast so it would be nice to have some great places right here to try it out.
How about PA?
I have known about Kentucky but knew there had to be more states than that. Thank you for the input everyone. I'd love to take a month traveling and finding all the best spelunking spots.
I might be wrong but I think that Tennessee would also be a good place to go spelunking. Considering it is in the heart of Appellation country chances are that it has lots of caves.
Pretty much the Tri-State (Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee) are the best places if you like caving. I'm not much on enclosed spaces though so I'll stay outdoors and enjoy the wide open spaces!
