Thinking About Learning Scuba Diving

I think it would be fun to scuba dive, but have no idea how to get started. I live far from any oceans and would need to find someone to teach me. How would I go about finding that person?

Simply do a google search for "scuba diving" in you area. Almost every dive shop I have ever been to offers recreational certification. By far the best way to learn to dive is to schedule a vacation to the tropics and learn to dive there. I live inland myself and spent 8 years diving in lakes. My wife and I finally managed to make it to Cozomel and I will never be the same.

Inland areas that offer scuba training use swimming pools and lakes. It's not at all like diving in the tropics, but at least you learn the basics.

I am certified by PADI, and go to their web site and check for a dive shop near you. You might even try a Discover Scuba class.
