Default Moleskin for blisters?

Ok, it doesn't happen too often, but every once in a while I'll ignore a sore spot and get a blister. A friend suggested I get some moleskin. I bought a patch to check it out, and it's got adheasive everywhere. Is this really good to put on a blister? Is there a trick to using this stuff that I'm missing?

You don't put the moleskin ON the blister, you cut a piece that is bigger than the affected area. Cut out the center where the blister is and put it around the blister. Yes your right, you don't want to put the adhesive directly on the blister, removal would hurt worse then grin-and-bearing the pain during a hike.

Great stuff! Used Moleskin a lot in the military. Attended a school run by Special Forces once and they had a can of some kind of liquid with a sponge applicator. You would put this stuff on the bottoms of your feet at night when you went to bed and it would pull the skin tight and toughen them by morning. I don't know what this stuff was but it was great. Just had to remember to sleep with your feet sticking out from under the covers or this stuff would act like glue and in the morning it would take forever to get your feet free of the sheets.
