| You don't put the moleskin ON the blister, you cut a piece that is bigger than the affected area. Cut out the center where the blister is and put it around the blister. Yes your right, you don't want to put the adhesive directly on the blister, removal would hurt worse then grin-and-bearing the pain during a hike.
