Default Snow shoes

I imagine, depending on where you are in the country, some of you might have a real need for snow shoes this year! Has anybody ever tried them? Do they really help when walking on snow? They look kind of uncomfortable and hard to walk in.

We saw "snow" for the first time in 14 years this year! I could imagine that some of the northern states are needing more than snow shoes! =) I think a hike in the snow would be beautiful.

Different snow conditions effect how well snowshoes work, but all in all, they're a huge help and I wouldn't be without a pair. The difference they can make at times is amazing. They do take a little getting used to, but most people get the hang of them quickly.
