Default Snow Skiing

I am going on a ski trip this coming weekend and need some advice on what gear I will need. I have never been skiing before. Help a girl out!

I'm no expert, as I've only been skiing a couple times. Most things you can get there, but make sure you have a good pair of gloves, and don't forget the sunscreen if it's sunny, and some lip balm.

Well skiing and snowboarding are pretty much the same when it comes to clothing. WEAR LAYERS... you want to have a light undershirt, a long sleeve shirt, then a good jacket. For the lower half I usually just wear a pair of pajama pants under my snow pants. A hat, gloves (I prefer mittens), and two pairs of socks. For the socks you can either wear two regular pair of socks or a normal pair and a wool pair. Really it all depends on the weather conditions on the mountain. Oh yea, don't forget your goggles. If you don't like a cold face, you may want to bring a scarf or something to cover up the exposed skin. I find that the lift rides are colder than the ride down. I think that about covers it.

Thanks guys! These are great suggestions and I'm glad you mentioned sunscreen because it hadn't even crossed my mind! Not really something you think about when heading to colder areas.

Oh yeah, on that note... I once snowboarded at Vail, CO during April, not the time to go without sunscreen. My face was sooooo burnt after the first day I had to apply lotion and sunscreen every hour the next day. After a couple of days I looked like Leatherface, it was REALLY bad, sorry but words can't even explain it. My face peeled off like a sheet of leather. And hurt... man that hurt.

I hope that the place you are going has rentals. It would be silly to buy skis for a vacation. Take extra clothes and make sure they are warm but also make sure you don't have too much on to restrict your movement. Underarmor is great, keeps you warm and is lightweight.
