Default Do you like to watch the Manatees?

We can go to one of the bridges here in Florida and watch the manatees swim. I think they are ugly but beautiful too. So many get hurt by boats though. Sometimes we see them in a canal near our house.

That's so cool that you are able to go and just observe them like that. The only place I can locally see anything of that nature is at our local aquarium. I love to just watch these creatures glide by, seemingly effortlessly. It's very relaxing.

I LOVE watching manatees! I've only seen them once before, but it stuck with me desperately and I've never forgotten it. I would love to see them again.

I have never been able to watch the manatees. I think it would be a wonderful experience. I get excited when I am at the beach and see dolphin in the water.

I've never had the chance to watch the manatees, unfortunately. The closest I have come is seeing dolphins along the beach, from the shore. I would love to see more though.

I lived in the Keys for a couple years and my house was right on the water on the Bay side so I had manatees right in my backyard all the time. It is illegal to interact with them in any way (i.e pet them, feed them, etc), but it is so difficult to avoid it because they are so friendly.

They love to drink fresh water straight from garden hoses and their favorite food is cabbage and lettuce. I always wanted to keep my fridge stocked with cabbage for them, but I had a neighbor who was fined for leaving his garden hose in the water for them to drink from so I didn't do it. Besides, I see the reasoning behind staying away from them. The more we interact with them the friendlier they become and wanting to be around people and swimming up to boats is one of the reasons they get hurt so badly. But they're just so darn adorable, lol.

I haven't ever seen them anywhere except in the zoo. I never thought of them as ugly. They have a graceful way in the water that is incomparable.
