How did you learn how to swim? My father taught me how to swim in a river during summer camping trips. I can remember very well that I nearly drowned in a deep part, that is why I am still afraid of depths until now.

My father taught me how to swim. We moved from NY to Florida when I was 6 and I was swimming like a fish, or so my mom said, from then on. I took my daughters to the YMCA and had them take a swim course.
My elementary school had a swim class which helped me get used to being in the water, holding my breath while submerged, etc. Then we got kickboards to help us move up, and somewhere along the line I guess I just ditched the kickboard, hehe.
Ouch, I do not remember who exactly taught me how to swim. It had to be either of my parents though. I'm trying to teach my daughter how to swim. Last year she did not care for the pool though. Maybe this year she do better. I'm not teaching her how to swim per say yet, but would like to her to learn to stay afloat.
I learned very young. We had a pool in our back yard and my dad thought I should learn. I was swimming in the pool with them when I was 2. They were in there also to help if I needed it.
I must be getting old. I can't remember who taught me. But I made sure that we took my son to swimming lessons at the YMCA when he was very young. He can swim like a fish!
