Default Camping for the scared women

Ok so I am very new to this outdoors living. My idea of camping is a hotel room lol. My better half is into the tent camping. We have been once to fort desoto for three day, I did ok, but tents hello. Any advice on getting use to this tent idea? I really try hard because I know how much he enjoys it, but hello hotel for me. I really get nervous about the unknown lerking on the outside of my tent while I am sleeping. Advice please !!!!

Would you be ok with going to a place like Starkey which is much smaller? They also offer cabin camping, if I remember correctly. Even smaller would be Cruz Lake. You could just about see the entrance from the camp site.

Another thing you could try is finding a friend with a couple of acres, and just camping out back.

Just go! You will see that it isn't bad and you are worried for nothing. Once you go you will conquer your fear. You will have him there with you, so he can protect you if needed. Build a fire and put food away prior to going to bed, and you will be fine.

Go to a campsite that's well populated if you can't bear being out in the wilderness. If you really are that chicken about it and more worried about humans than animals, then buy a tiny padlock. You can thread it through the two zip fasteners of the tent doors once you're all zipped up and settling in for the night.

Of course, you'll just have to hope you don't a) lose the key and b) need to pee and fiddle with that to get out during the night.

Bears I hear don't know how to work a zip. That may or may not be true.

I say get a group of people together and go. You don't need to go to a campground necessarily, you could get a bunch of friends and all pitch tents together out in the woods somewhere. I think if your in a group setting with people your comfortable with you'd have more fun and less worries.
