I just found out that a lot of homeless people have set up in a primitive camping area at a local federal lake site. I feel so sorry for these people. With the weather lately it's been really rough and our local homeless shelter only has room for a dozen. Homelessness has risen so much lately that I wonder if everyone is going to be out of luck before too long.

At least there is a homeless shelter where you are; there's none here where I am and no programs to help them out, either. I feel for average people who become homeless because of the economic situation, but for those who just mentally aren't all there, the world must be a scary place.
The economy has made it really challenging and difficult for a lot of people. About a month ago, there was a news segment on a family that was doing this. It broke my heart.
That is so sad! I hear here in NY Governor Patterson is going to try to close down the state parks (budget cuts). I'm sure some homeless people stay in these parks too.
I wish there was more homeless shelters.
I guess homeless people have no choice but to rely on the camping area near the lake. How I wish that more shelter homes should be built and food should be provided for them.
