| when i was in the boy scouts, we were camping at lake weiss. we went fishing, but the water was low, so we were shlepping thru knee deep mud when a water moccasin started towards me and since i couldn't run i beat the snake to death with my fishing pole

| I hate water moccasins. They are nasty little things. We have a lake close to here that is just full of them.

| It wasn't exactly scary; it was more like shocking.
We were camping at the beach and my brother found an abalone shell. We were trying to figure out if the abalone was inside (can you tell what city folk we were?) and I was holding it and looking at the shell this way and that. Suddenly the abalone shot a spray of water into my eye! I hope it was water, anyway. I was only about four or five and I was so mad at the abalone!!

| I was at a camp for kids and we were swimming in the creek/river and a snake started swimming down and we all had to get out of the water. That's pretty much it! I've been lucky.

| I got stalked by a female grizzly with 2 cubs in Denali in 2000. That was hair-raising.

| It's probably a tie between a cougar that I encountered and a bear that ran towards me (but luckily it turned back after I screamed at it, made myself look bigger, and through rocks in it's general direction).

| I didn't exactly see the rattlesnake, but I definitely heard it sound it's rattle. I made it back to camp in record time.

| A raccoon....during the day. Now I adore raccoons and have even raised/released some refuge ones myself before, but to see one during the day, meant something was wrong with it. It was just acting funny in general, too, so I wasn't thrilled, heh.
