We had a little 17 year old high school girl who passed away this week after injuries from an ATV accident. This little one was riding by herself and accidentaly ran into a fence post. I hate when things like this happen. Poor child and her parents.

That is very sad. One of my best friends growing up, died when he was on his dirt bike coming home from his girlfriends house and hit a telephone pole on the side of the road.
That is sad for the parents but it really irks me when I see teens and even younger out riding around without proper teaching. There is a family near me that I constantly see the kids riding a four wheeler through the subdivision on paved roads and with 3 of them on it at one time. I am seriously thinking about calling someone.
That really is such a tragedy. Was she wearing a helmet?
Dreamer - I don't blame you for wanting to call someone. I wouldn't let a kid ride without supervision and certainly three on an ATV at one time is eventually going to cause an accident.
One of my co-workers shared a story where a dad bought an ATV and presented it as a present to the family on Christmas Day. One of the kids took it out, got into an accident and was killed. Just too sad.
I did some volunteer work in a rehab hospital on a kids floor, and I hate to say that atleast 3 kids were there because of an incident with an ATV. I know it's probably like most things, they're safe when used properly, but it has made me leary of them.
That is really sad I'm really sorry for her family- I bet they are saying a lot of what ifs right now.
I don't let my daughter ride alone and I always lead when we go in the woods.
That is really sad. An accident can be prevented with precautionary measures in place. But when one happens, we can only accept the consequences and some guilt as parents.
