    Onion skin hamburger

There is nothing better than a burger on the grill. When I am out camping I always try and make something a little different. This is how I found this recipe for Onion Skin Hamburger. The first thing you do is cut a large onion in half cross-wise and remove the center. Mix up hamburger with...

    Severe Weather

I can say that I have been lucky and have never ran into a situation like this. I have been camping when there has been thunderstorms and high winds, but never a tornado or hurricane. I always try to be prepared and have a plan in place just incase something like this does ever happen. Some of...

    Berry picking while hiking

I have picked berries and eaten them while hiking. In my state we have mulberries, elderberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. There is just something about eating out in the woods that makes them taste that much better.

    Teaching Kids To Fish

I taught my niece how to fish when she was six. I tired taking her when she was younger but she really wasn't interested in it. I completely agree that it depends on the child. They will let you know if they are ready or not. In the mean time, just take him with you and have fun.

    Venison or Turkey?

I always make turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. It is a huge tradition with my family. I've never thought to make venison for a holiday dinner before but I could see maybe eating duck for Thanksgiving.

    Biking solo.

I go bike riding by myself most of the time. I like to get out in nature to take photos and it's less of a distraction when I am by myself. I usually take someone with me when I am just going out for a ride for fun, that way I have someone to share the experience with.

    Good starter tents

I have always used Coleman tents. They are inexpensive but reliable. They have a special weatherproof system that keeps you dry in the rain and the poles are sturdy enough to withstand the wind. This would be a good place for someone new to camping to start.

Gifts For A Camper Who Has It All

My friend has a birthday coming up and he is obsessed with camping. He has everything imaginable that is camping related and I just don't know what to get him. Is there something new that has just come out that campers just can't live without?

    Almost Deer Hunting Season

Hunting season in my area starts around mid November, but bow hunting has already begun. I also like to go hunting and have gone with my dad for years now. It is nice for the peace and quiet but also for the memories I get to share with my dad.

    Survival for Beginners

A lot of it has to do with just using common sense, but there are some things that you should know how to do just incase you get into an uncommon situation. I found an e-book called "Essential Wilderness Skills For Beginners". It's pretty straight forward and has a lot of good tips in it like...

    Rained out!

The rain usually doesn't get me down when I am camping unless it's a steady downpour all day long. When it's like that I try and find something to do inside the camper. Of course if I'm tent camping that is a whole different story. I'll definitely be cutting my trip short then.

    Car camping

I have never been camping in my car but I have seen people camp in their cars before on campsites. I don't think sleeping in my car would be too comfortable unless I'm stranded somewhere and I'm forced to. It would totally be a different story if I had a larger vehicle though, then maybe I would...

    New to Boulder Climbing

I have never been rock climbing before and I am really interested in getting started on boulder climbing. I'm not sure if I should start out at a climbing gym first to assess whether or not I am strong enough to boulder climb or if I should just go for it. Any suggestions?

    Canoe or kayak?

I like kayaking more than canoeing. I do agree that it does depend on how many people are going with you. I usually go by myself out on the lake near my house. It's more peaceful being out on the water all alone.

Ever thought of backpacking across Europe?

Backpacking across Europe never really appealed to me. I can't imagine just taking a backpack, with only necessities in it all while being in another country and not sure of where you're going. I'm a planner and when I'm that far away from home I like to be more prepared.
