    Just the poles?

Yes, I have actually seen replacment poles at walmart. I had looked into them myself because somtimes things just happen, and you dont want to lose a good tent over a broken pole. I dont know if you have a walmart localy or sports store but people do make replacmnt poles.

    4 days of camping

Depending on where and how you camp, overkill is not a bad thing. In a very remote area I talked to a guy once who spent 3 extra days because his truck battery died. It was him and his pregnat wife. Some guy finally came along and jumped started them. So if you are in a vehicle it doesnt hurt to...

I have to agree with grandpa. Here in the pacific northwest and areas alike I have never heard of anything like that. Somtimes the family camping could become the dinner served for the bears. The places me and my wife camp normally dont even have out houses, tables or even designated spots...

I would just leave it. I would feel bad about taking it. Plus with my bad luck it would only work against me!

    Clouds

I could be very wrong and probably am so dont quote me on this. But an old wives tale I know of says birds line up on power lines shortly before it rains. But when your 70 miles from a powerline it doesnt do you much good. All I can say is when we get some good info on clouds, write them down on...

    Pockets vs rucksack

I have found to much stuff in your cargo pockets can rub your legs sore if you are not used to it. But I keep most things in my camelbak but I always wear pants or shorts with cargo pocket for the camera and dog leashes, for when the dogs are off leash. And maybe some mints or cough drops in my...

    Hiking to take Pictures

I take both my phone and digital camera. I never hike without a way of taking pictures. If I know it will be a short hike somtimes I just use my phone, but for long hiking camping trips the regular camera is better since it does not need to be recharged just needs more batteries. You never know...

Seeing old growth forests with trees that are 3 or 4 or more feet at the base over 150 feet tall. Or the redwoods seeing trees over 20 feet at the base and over a1000years old. Walking across lava flows trying to imagine what it must of looked like when the mountains were arupting. Seeing...

    Do You Own a Telescope?

Say for the average family how do you pick a good telescope out. I see them in kids sections at walmart for like 60 bucks or at other places for like 600 buck with electronics and more junk than I could remember. If a average person was going to just view stars with it a few times a year and...

Like the title says what is in your mind the best vehicle for camping. A big truck, a car with good milage, minivan, etc. Me and my wife have a 99 Jeep wrangler lifted on 33s and tow a small trailer. It works great for us. But it is cool hearing what people like to have for camping or wish they...

    Do You Own a Telescope?

A telescope would be one of the coolest items for camping. I do not but it is on my list. I use a pair of binos, they work pretty good but I would love to have a telescope. A good way to pass the time during spring and fall when the sun is not up as long.

Starting to feel like a redneck chick here!

I think a can of bear pepper spray, or regular pepper spray is the best defense. If you carry a gun and you use it in the wrong situation you could wind up in just as much trouble if not more than the unwanted person. Pepper spray is very affective and nonleathal. I own several guns but 90% of...

What do you do for excitement while camping?

Me and my wife will bring our recurve bow and get some target practice in, color books, magizines, cross words. Camping it self is enjoyable but if you have been hiking several hours, caving, swimming, wheeling etc. you gotta have some hobby to do when your settled down for the night.
