    Hunting, Foraging, Cooking and Eating...!!

You could brew your own dandelion tea, it actually tastes good with a little sweetener. I add honey and lemon to mine. It is also very good for detoxifying the liver and there are other health benefits.

    Gigwam Tents?

These tents have borrowed their design from the traditional wigwam, it is nothing original. I've stayed in a proper wigwam, much bigger than those tents. A wigwam is not very warm, I don't particularly like them and I don't like the look of the tents either.

Most important things we need when camping

I take a few gallons of water with me but I don't like to carry any more than that because it is so heavy and I can use nature for water. There are a number of ways you can obtain water from nature and you can easily purify water with fire.

    Cleaning Up Litter

I will not clean up litter left by other people, as a matter of principle. Why should I clean up other people's rubbish? I will tell the people responsible to clean up their mess. People who leave the environment in a mess disgust me, I'm not afraid to speak my mind and tell them to clean it up.

    Watch what you drink

I find it rather ironic that methanol is noted as a toxic substance when alcohol itself is toxic! I would never drink black market alcohol because I have heard some horror stories. There is no regulation, you are risking your life!

    Cars pulling campers

I've seen some small cars pull very big campers on the highway. I wonder how such a small car can pull such a big camper. I suppose they will learn the hard way, it will eventually cause serious problems with their car and their camper!

    Luminous jacket

A friend of mine was run over when I was a kid. Ever since then I've made sure I'm illuminated in the dark when I ride at night. I'm a driver as well so I know how hard it is to spot cyclists who do not take the proper precautions.

    Hydroelectric Power

I love the idea of living self-sustainably but I wouldn't know where to start with building something like that and paying someone to build it for you would be expensive. I'd think about it if I had the required skills and knowhow, but I haven't

    Is a book too much?

I have no issue with him revealing what happened from his point of view. I will not buy the book because I am not particularly interested but I'm sure many people will be. Why should he not talk about his experiences?

Most important things we need when camping

I don't bother making a list because the things I need to take with me are stored in my memory and all of my camping gear is stored in one place. I take a tent, sleeping bag, lighters, compass, food, my phone, portable radio, first aid kit and spare clothing.

    Canned bacon

I wouldn't dare eat canned bacon, the mere thought of it disturbs me. Bacon should not come from a can! I would rather make my own smoked, dry-cured bacon jerky than use bacon from a can.

Best method to warm up ?

I use multiple layers of clothing to keep warm in my tent. I have a very warm sleeping bag and I like to wear wool clothing to keep warm. I have a 100% wool sweater which keeps me nice and warm. Wool is good because it traps air between the fibers, insulating the body.

    Loving this weather

The weather has been really nice over here in the past week. It is sunny but there is a nice breeze and it is not too hot. The temperatures have been around 23-27 degrees Celsius.

    sun glasses /shades

When doing jobs in my back yard I wear plastic goggles to protect the eyes. I once see a show about a man who lost his sight due to a branch flying into his eye whilst chopping a tree. Ever since then I have worn goggles.

    Halloween at the campground

September is a little early for Halloween. Why do you celebrate Halloween early? I'm looking forward to Halloween, it's one of my favorite times of the year. My son is 6 and he loves Halloween, I will be taking him trick-or-treating with a few of his buddies.

    Campground activities

We don't participate in the 'communal' activities at the campground. I prefer to avoid the campground in general and I don't like the idea of joining in with the activities you mention. I would rather spend quality time with my son.

Is There Still Money To Be Made?

I think you can make a decent supplemental income from foraging and selling the food, but you would need to spend a lot of time foraging to live off the sales. I know a few people who hunt for a living. They have clients who will pay good money for wild meat.

    Wound Bandaging?

I was hiking on Saturday and I tripped over a branch. I landed on a jagged stone which sliced my knee open. The bleeding was profuse and I wasn't carrying my first aid kit so I had to use my t-shirt as a makeshift bandage. It done the trick.

    Multigrain Bread Recipe

Bread is not healthy for wheat is one of the most offensive foods we can eat. However, if you want to make bread as healthy as possible you should opt for fermented and sprouted sourdough bread. The grains need to be treated to be rendered 'safe'.

If only all search and rescues where this easy!

I laughed at the title of the article - 'Woman unknowingly joins search for herself', haha! I wondered how that could happen but it turns out it was a simple course of events which resulted in this bizarre story.
