    Perseid Meteor Shower

This was a great shower. Everyone in my family seen at least one of them shooting in the sky. That was really great and a nice thing to share with my son who is only six so he had never seen the showers like this before.

    Ouch - my back!

I think a hard surface like that would feel great for me! Then again I have a broken back and the softer beds typically make it hard for me to get comfortable in nice beds. Heck, I have a top of the line pillow top bed, but still prefer the floor at times because it is so comfortable on my back.

    Bigfoot

I have never had any type of experience with them. However, when I am walking in the woods close to my house, it can be spooky at times and you can hear crashing noises, but typically this is just the deer. Nothing to really be concerned about if you ask me.

'This guy is probably about as true a survivalist as Davy Crockett'

I have read about this in the paper. Did they ever catch him? I was curious because I seen a quick flash in the news about it, but never seen anything after that. I would think with that many miles he may be hiding away and not get caught, but you never know.

Giant pregnant python caught in Florida

That has to be a huge snake! I already hate snakes, but this is another reason to hate them even more when it is three times as large as me! I would travel to the Everglades, but I do not think I could ever live in the area because of all the snakes I would have to combat!

    Fishing License Requirements

I believe in Ohio you have to get a license even if you want to catch and release. It is kind of silly if you ask me, I mean how many of our ancestors would have paid money to fish or hunt. However, I know you do have to get a license to fish in the waters of Ohio, unless it is a privately owned...

Best Way To Teach Kids To Swim

I have two young children that I am going to try to teach to swim this summer. Do you have any suggestions on what is the best way to teach them? I am curious so I can have a short cut rather than having to deal with them constantly complaining about thinking they are going to be hurt.

    Swimming

It depends on the lake. I know the lake right up the street from me was a man made lake and the water is not that well maintained by a current or anything else. So if it is that lake I would take a pool because it is a major algae plant. However, if the water if flowing like at Lake Michigan I...

    Please check before crossing

I always have a long hiking stick with me. With this stick I push it into the dirt to test to guarantee it is solid enough to step on. Without this I do not go into the uncharted areas.

    Going Mudding.

The mudding is where you take a truck or atv through some mud holes. I know this can be a blast and typically you will end up getting totally soaked to guarantee you have a great time!

    Boat Name

I have never had to name a boat before. However, my father-in-law had a boat on Lake Michigan that he named the Dock Knocker. I found the name funny because it was named because my mother-in-law could not help buy hit the dock every five seconds!

Para cord, what have YOU used it for?

I have used it for some things like tying up an awning that is cloth. This seemed to work really well and held up for quite a while. I know the winds played havoc at times.

Right Age to Teach Kids Wilderness Survival?

I have taught my kids some things. However, they are easily distracted because they are only 6 and 7. The good thing is, they are retaining the information like a sponge and able to get it back out properly!

    Old Iron Skillet

I have some cast iron pieces as well. They work great on an open fire and last for years! I know without this I would have constant problems in getting to have the pieces working for me.

    Camping to save money

I have to agree this is a great way to save money, but also reconnect with nature. My wife and I stopped to use the bathroom in a campground in the Smokies and she was surprised at how quiet it was compared to Gatlinburg. Ever since then she has wanted to go camping, I think I created a monster!
