There was one time when I was camping with the family and a terrible storm came through. There was rain and hail along with some thunder and lightening but we were all safe in our tent.

I came across the Fritos method while searching for fire starters online. A friend and I tested the Fritos at work in an outdoor ashtray on a windy day. Despite the wind, it held up nicely.

The Volcano is great if you're cooking small items or just a few items at a time. I've also placed my dutch oven in it to keep the charcoal off my concrete patio in the backyard. For what I paid, it works just fine.

You know how narcissistic bears can be. Probably was just making sure everything was ready for the glamor shot. :) At least the guy pay for insurance on the camera.

I'm a computer nerd by profession and the only electronic device I bring with me is my smart phone. Then again, the way phones are nowadays, may as well bring a computer. Oh, well. :)

@Coz - I've seen that photo around the Internet and it's a Photoshopped image. I was born in raised in San Francisco and can tell you that there aren't any sharks that size within the bay.

I think camping is more of a state of mind than what you bring with you. I'm at the age where I'd rather be in an RV than in a tent but the important thing to me is getting away from everything.

I'm just enough of a pyro that I may have to give this a try but I'll have to make sure my 16 year old son isn't around. Can't set a bad example, right? :tinysmile_twink_t2:

That brings up images of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. lol I've never done minimal fishing because I never thought it would work. Curious to know if someone has done it with success.

Having had gator when I was back in Florida on a business trip I second your comment about gators being delicious. Making me wish I had some right now. :)

There's a Korean restaurant across the street from my work that has kimchi fried rice on the menu. I ordered it once and it was so spicy that I had to go home, cook more rice and mix it up. Boy was it delicious.

Even though I've never seen or experienced anything like Bigfoot I like to keep an open mind to the possibility that they do exist. If it's confirmed that they exist I just hope to never seen one while I'm camping. :)

I wear a helmet because I have wife and kids who depend on me. Friend of mine told me about this guy who was riding, hit something flipped over the handle bars and smacked his head - no helmet. He was gone the next day. Left behind a small family. I'm not taking any chances.

I originally heard about noodling from a friend of mine who lived in the South. He said guys would come out of the waters with their arms scratched up and bleeding. Thought it was a joke until I saw it on tv.

Has anyone here ever hired a fishing guide? I've always thought it would be nice for certain spots of the state where I fish so that I can use their experience and knowledge but is it worth it?
