    What's your favorite catfish bait?

Here in North Texas the number one bait is Shad, preferably live but dead fresh Shad works almost as well. Its so effective I rarely bother with anything else for bait!

    Canoe camping trips

Anything you wanna keep...put it on a leash! I am a Kayaker and cant tell you just how important that little factoid is even in a canoe! Do take a spare paddle too! "It" always happens and usually at the most in oppertune time I might add. I think this spring I might buy a Canoe and do a...

    Crappy Bait?

Minnows are tough to beat for Crappie. They are also kind of expensive too. But few Crappie can pass up a minnow tight lined or fished under a bobber. Unfortunately small Bass and Catfiosh are just as gulible for them as well. I prefer to target them with Jigs. It takes some practice to...

    Miniature fishing rods and reels

I think I have seen the fishing poles your talking about at D!cks Sporting Goods store. They do closely resemble Ice Fishing Poles. I have one and use it for "Perch Jerking" Bluegills when I need some bait for Bruiser sized Blue and Flathead Catfishing.

    Tent Capacity

I figure they come to their conclusion by how many people in mummy bags who dont have to get out of it in the middle of the night to answer the call of nature, they can fit inside. Seriously... I have a 4 man tent and at best I consider it a 2 man tent and moderate amount of gear. Maybe I am...

Dealing with poisonous snakes and insects

We have the rare Rattlesnake at times but Copperheads and Cotton Mouths are much much more common. We also have the Brown Recluse and the Black Widow as well. We do the best we can to keep our situational awareness knob turned up on high and try to elimenate the things that are conducive to...

Warm weather and fishing in December

I "wacked" a half dozen this afternoon on a ultra light and a "wackey rigged plastic worm" fishing along some rip rap with a pretty decent drop off close by. It was a lot of fun for about an hour or so that I was out happy jacking around.

    Controlling Gun Violence

We definitely need to do something more than throw a few Ritalin pills at the problem and talk about it in private occasionally and call it good! Good post dinosaur. That first paragrapgh especially pretty much summed it up for me!

    Controlling Gun Violence

It burns me too Grandpa that we blast this over the news and give it so much media coverage which I too think contributes considerably to copy cats and plants ideas into those who aint just quiet right and mad at the world as they see it as an oppertunity to "make a statement".

    Controlling Gun Violence

You know...I think thats about the most intelligent post I have seen on this subject on several forums to date. Lets get real and what some Dr Phil... Guns dont kill people. People kill people! To blame all this on guns, is like blaming a spoon for making people fat. That gun didnt get...

    How do you hunt...??

When it comes to hunting, I guess I aint much of a traditionalist, at least in every sense of the word. Tree stands? Yeah I use them quiet a bit, but not all the time. I have hidden behind a bale of Hay in a huge field and sniped in coming coyotes after calling them in too. I have also...

    Christmas tree farm

I got mine at Home Depot this year...a living Christmas Tree that is. Hopefully my green thumb can keep it alive and thriving between now and next Christmas. Hopefully it will be much bigger and better trimmed and look nicer next year

    Bow and Arrows

Man I am looking hard at that Mission Ballistic after shooting one at the Pro Shop this weekend. Not the best bow out there but for the money its packed with an amazing list of features that defy the price being asked for them. I am seeing one in my future in the next 30 days at the most!

    Best fishing lures

Probably the one I catch the most fish with and the widest variety of species with is a 1/8th ounce Road Runner type Jig with a flo-red head and a white solid body soft plastic tube. I have several other favorites but this one is hard to beat in most situations.

    Bow and Arrows

I have toyed with the idea of getting a recurve and if I did I would definitely add a loop and use a release aid. I realize that is heresy among the traditionalist out there, but I see no reason to give up useful technology.
