HELLO EVERYONE! I trust all is going well in your camp.

Use a GPS?

The GPS is another instrument or tool that we can use but it must be used with caution and wisdom in the outdoors. There are more stories of people running into serious trouble relying merely on these kinds of devices. Know your stuff - develop independent skills and be safe.

This is an example of how not to rely on a GPS.

A United States driver has been arrested by the RCMP after making a wrong turn and ending up in a line to cross the Canada border while in possession of more than $815,00.00 in cash and a large amount of cannabis. On Friday, the 60-year-old male driver was following GPS coordinates that he'd entered improperly, according to the RCMP. "He took a wrong turn and ended up in the border line up at the Canada Border Services Agency [CBSA] Rainbow Bridge port of entry in Niagara Falls, Ontario,": the RCMP said in a press release.

"As the driver had no passport, he was referred for a secondary examination. During the inspection, the CBSA officers discovered 181 kg of cannabis [valued at between $362,000.00 CAD and $724,000.00 CAD] and over $600,000.00 US dollars [worth $816,167 CAD]."

GPS systems usually cannot differentiate road hieracrchy. They send people on turkey trails they have no business being on especially in winter.
Pay attention to the size of the roads you are being directed to. Stay on main roads when possible. We have some state highways in Nevada that are dirt and some paved roads that have not been repaved in over 50 years.
