We just dealt with a rep today from our insurance company who looked over our car, it was beaten over the weekend by a nasty hail storm we had. Winds were up to 60MPH and the hail is all over the car, not one area was left safe. Has anyone dealt with this before, what is the difference between replacement vs paintless dent removal?

I'm no expert, but paint-less dent removal would be areas that can be popped out without ruining the finish. I never saw small dents that easy to pull out. Only large dents. Replacement would be pulling all the dents and repainting the entire car. Like I said I'm not an expert but your local auto body guy should be able to clarify this for you.

Depending on the age of your car, it might be smart to take the check, put it in a savings account and let it build interest. Just drive the beat up car around around until it's time to buy a new one. Our area got hit bad a year ago. Half the town got a new roof and car repairs. I went to new mexico in 2005, everyone in soccorro was driving cars beat to hell by hail.

I hope you have a good insurance company. A long time ago I was in the same situation and the insurance company that I was with refused to fix the damage. I ended up canceling them and getting a new company.

We have Progressive and I will let you know if they are good or not, after I get the bill. We ended up replacing the entire hood, its shot and looks like someone decided to turn it into a golf ball. All of the side panels will do PDR and I swear the only spot not touched was the rear bumper.

Hail Damage is almost always a pain

If those are your two choices then I would try to get replacement.

A few years back my car was viciously attacked by hail. I had already had my car a couple of years and had about another 6 months of payments. Since I bought my car used opposed to buying new, my insurance company totalled the car and gave me a check for the amount owed minus around $500. I was able to pay it off and keep driving it though selling it became tricky as it ended up with a salvage title after being totalled. Not a problem with me as I didn't plan on selling it, I have since bought a new car and have passed that car down to my niece.
