Leg still hurting

I fell down my basement stairs 2 weeks ago now and my leg is still hurting. I was holding on to the railing and since our staircase is open, I basically repelled off the edge when I slipped and ripped up my whole side. I had a bruise that was 2-3 inches wide and went all the way from my hip to my knee. The visible bruises are fading, but there must be some muscle and/or bone bruising because it still hurts like the devil.

TakeaHIke,
I am very sorry to hear of your injury. This kind of stuff happens way too often. Add handrails. Be careful with small rugs that can trip people. The shower is one of the worst. People should consider using a chair as they age. Modern meds make some people dizzy. Then they close their eyes when they wash their hair on a slippery surface get hurt. Be careful out there.

My Mom is about to turn 89. She has broken both hips and her pelvis from falls. It is amazing that she can still get around with a walker. I believe her balance has been compromised for a long time due to the use of many drugs for heart, circulation and kidney function.

Hi...

Sorry to hear about your tumble. I trust that you had a Professional look at your leg?

If not...get thee to a legologist, post haste...!! You shouldn't have to go around hurting...!!

Sorry to hear about your injury. If your leg continues to give you trouble you may want to get it looked at. At least it will ease your mind if there's nothing wrong. It always does mine anyway. I walked around on a broken ankle for 3 weeks one time before I decided to go have it x-rayed. Don't wait that long. :)

Ppine, I was holding the handrail. Actually, holding on to the handrail is what caused most of my injuries. Had I not been holding it, I would have just slipped down a couple stairs and that would have been the end of it.

Any bruising on the bone always seems to be the worst for me. I know when I tumbled down our stairs a bit back I was sore for months. Are you sure that nothing broke?
