Yep nice and slow, but it's still progress. IMG_20230913_173018824.jpg
I'm waiting on a bandsaw blade. It was stuck at a post office in New Jersey for 10 days??? Go figure. It's on its way now.IMG_20230909_153451937.jpg
Since all my wood was only 10' or less, I'm having to join a few for that first 16' run.IMG_20230906_135401715.jpg
Squaring stuff up. Don't want it to turn out.....a little off.

I hope everyone is well.

My canoe is "slowly" materializing. View attachment 4239
I won't try this strange upward sweep of strips again.
=====> Dunno, but it seems to me that your creations are always fabulous. It's like cooking I suppose. You mix all the ingredients that look sort of messy and then walla you have the finished product that is delicious. I think canoe construction is much the same way. You have all these wing dings, this and that, then you begin to see the end result. And each time we become better.

Thank you. I couldn't keep going with upwards pattern. It was getting very hard to twist and keep shape, so I had to alter my plan.

Good morning Y'all. We are starting get a little color in the trees now. Nights are cooler dipping to the 40's and 60's during the day time. I love it!

....The Master at work. New thoughts and new ideas capture the imagination and allow creativity to unfold before your eyes
Thank you.

I hope everyone is well. My last camping excursion sort of fizzled out at the last moment. The person and his 2 sons that were going to come along, I thought were very unprepared, lacking the bedding and experience to be out in below freezing temperatures at night. And to add insult to injury, I had some car repairs that needed my attention, so it wasn't all my buddies fault. It just didn't seem to be in the cards if you know what I mean? I do wonder if I can claim my car as a dependant on my taxes tho. I really think it's possessed like the Stephen King book of Christine.

Canoe update, it's coming along nicely. I just epoxied my outer bow stem on today.IMG_20231118_164323014.jpg
I spent to much time working on the stripping. I had to remove a few the straighten up some accent strips
. Once wood glue has dried it very hard to separate the wood strips. IMG_20231111_120913227~3.jpgIMG_20231112_093916275.jpg Gets dark early now. Outside light just came, time to call it quits.IMG_20231118_172505886.jpgIMG_20231118_172051188_HDR.jpg Cheers.

Glassed the inside and 2 days later sanded it for preparation for the varnish.IMG_20231229_204511710.jpg

My wife taking picture from up stairs window.

I made a seat frame and was going to put a woven cane seat in it, and well, I sort of screwed up the binder cane groove. I wasn't to happy with how I threw the seat frame together anyhow, so scrap that.IMG_20240103_184357766.jpg
Besides I don't think natural cane lasts to long in a canoe. They're cool looking and authentic, but maybe not a good idea. I made a new and improved seat frame jig. The old one was very inadequate.IMG_20240106_120957935.jpg
Old jig is in front of the new one. Ripped some more cherry and black walnut for the new seat frame. Steamed, pressed and epoxied. IMG_20240107_163913129.jpg
That's where I'm at on my canoe build as of now.

The master at work. Organizing nothing into something and something into fantastic.
Thank you. I was getting very frustrated with the quality of the poplar I have. There are so many knots in it that it is creating a lot of waste, and work.

Anyhow it's something to do when the weather is not cooperating.

-----> Wow! One for every month. Each one looks like a Weight Watchers challenge. Dunno why I tend to stick with one "cookie", probably because it brings back the most memories. "Dad's cookies have always been a preferred brand.
