Bagging my tentIMG_20220503_154239092.jpg refilling my fire starter bottleIMG_20220503_155518725.jpg checking my tote contentsIMG_20220503_155245239.jpg I was down to on full bottle of propane. It would've been enough, but I decided to take the opportunity and fill a couple of others.IMG_20220503_161056077.jpg 14.4 oz in each 1 pound can [emoji3581]. Slathered a little soapy water on valves to insure there were no leaks, and I'm good to go.

Got home this morning and got a couple hours of sleep before we left. Well started to put the tent up, and guess what I forgot. My tent uses a round plastic thingy, at the top, that the 5 shock cords fit into. It is the main support. I used gorilla tape and anything I could to bind the ends together. Aarh!! Of all the stupid things to forget. Oh well. Camp is set-up IMG_20220504_170641706~2.jpg Very nice breeze. Great view IMG_20220504_164229569~2.jpgIMG_20220504_164605847~2.jpgIMG_20220504_164100174~2.jpgIMG_20220504_174314415~2.jpga little snoozing in the hammock I in order.

MorningIMG_20220505_062959527.jpgIMG_20220505_070211648.jpg And into the canoe for a short paddle while the misses gets breakfast, and other stuff cleaned and straightened up. IMG_20220505_084705168~2.jpg IMG_20220505_095412633~2.jpg now with my paddling partnerIMG_20220505_104033327.jpg lots of Cormorants here in Tn. They're an invasive species and very destructive. We did see an eagle perched high in a tree on one of the many islands. It flew off before I could get a picture. The geese are starting to nest.

Polish sausages simmered in peppers and smothered with provolone cheeseIMG_20220505_172930755_HDR~2.jpg Then a little hiking after lunchIMG_20220505_141750387~2.jpgIMG_20220505_135641484~2.jpg relaxed in the hammocks untill dinner. Meatball subs! YummyIMG_20220504_191159062~2.jpgIMG_20220504_205023003~2.jpg then we sat around the fire the rest of the evening eating rolaids. Glad we had most things packed up because storms were rolling in. I got really mean out by 2am and the wind was ripping through camp. Lots of weather storm warnings and stuff, so we bugged out. We had everything down and packed in 15 minutes. About the time we finished the heavy rain assaulted the area.

You got out there. That is what matters.
I forget stuff pretty often. No big deal. Make one, Buy one. Do without.

This week I was out looking at the one million acre Dixie Fire. Lots of live trees left. Some crown fires, but lots of ground fires. The understory is already in bloom. Not as bad as I thought it would be. It was perfect and no one was around.

Two weeks ago we went down to Bishop, CA and Twin Lakes. Cold and windy but magnificent.
