Default The Hatteras Heave

I was on another forum a few months back and someone recommended using the Hatteras Heave to increase your casting difference when surf fishing. I replied and asked exactly what this is as I had never heard of it and no one ever replied. Does anyone know what this is? Is it a technique or gear or both?

The only thing I can think of is an old fishing rod called Hatteras Heaver. It was designed for tossing big bait and sinkers into the surf. It was an all glass, heavy and stiff. I think it was around 12 feet long. I do not think they make them any more though.
