Default Net Fishing

Last time I went to the ocean, I saw a man net fishing. We were in a small canal, right off the ocean. The man just threw the net out into the water, and pulled up tons of fish. Anyone ever tried this? It looked fun, but kind of hard.

My brother is a sea captain and took my son and I out in a small boat just beyond the breakers. We dropped the net and pulled up what seemed like tons of croakers and sunnys. We had a great time, a good memory.

I've never tried it but have seen it numerous times at the beach. There are usually 2 people - 1 on each end of the large net. They actually walk out with the net and then drag it in. I've seen crabs and fish come out of the ocean this way.

Miley is talking about a throw net. This is a round net with weights attached on the circumference. It is easy to use but takes some practice to learn how to throw it so it fully expands. The net drops over the fish and the weights sink. The operator then pulls and draws the circumfereance together trapping the fish.

You're right about getting the hang of throwing it. I tried this once......once!
