Ok well, if the truth be told, the fishing part is just the bonus.. Mostly I just like to hang out in a heated ice shanty drinking beer and watching TV.

Do they still make usable battery powered TVs? I thought those went away with the old broadcast frequencies.

Then again I guess you can just do it on your smartphone now.

I don't have a shanty but I like to pick a warm, sunny day and set up a lounge chair and stereo, put a six pack of good beer on the ice and open a book.

Sometimes when a flag goes up on my tip-up, I'm thinking "Darn, I gotta get up and do something now".

Here's a video I made a few years ago:
Ice Fishing, NJ Style - YouTube

Love ice fishing, I've been doing it since I was a kid in the early 70's. Now I live in a lake community so it's only a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive to the lake. I have my sled ready to go all winter, but tend to avoid the cold, windy days.

Just waiting for the ice to form now. There was a skin of ice on the lake a few weeks ago and I had high hopes, but the weather got warm and it melted

"Keep not standing fixed and rooted, briskly venture, briskly roam" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

[QUOTE=huntergal;46247]I used to go ice fishing with my grandpa on Lake Champlain in Vermont every winter for most of my childhood.
