Default Best freshwater fishing places

Where are your favorite places to catch freshwater fish? I enjoy putting a boat in at our local river and floating downstream a bit. We also like to fish out at an old rock quarry that has been out of business for decades. It has great fish in it.

TDale, I know what you're not saying. My favorite place to catch fish is in the water.

There is an alpine lake, high in a beautiful meadow surrounded by granite peaks. The last time there, a fellow hiker made 10 casts and caught 10 arctic grayling. Almost made me wish I had brought a pole.

My favorite place to fish is in the rivers and streams of Colorado. We caught some great trout there several times. The water is clear and clean, the air is fresh and the scenery is beautiful.

Any lake in Northern Ontario comes highly recommended. Even if the fish aren't biting, the peace and quiet, the loons calling, not to mention the beauty can't be beat.

Grand Cascapedia River in the Gaspe peninsula in Quebec. Magnificent Atlantic salmon fishing (I've seen fish over 40 lb caught there)...extremely pricey! I'd have never gotten on it without being a friend of a lady that guides on the river.

Absolutely beautiful country, friendly people.

Never managed to catch a salmon- hooked up once...what a thrill! Did catch an 18" brookie there. They want you to keep any trout you catch since they eat salmon fry and smolts.

These places and descriptions make me want to fill the truck up with gasoline and head out looking for more best places to fish. Oh, the call of the road and the thrill of a tug at the end of the line is music to my soul. Winter's kept us inside too long.

Headed out in the morning for Michigan and the Midwest Flyfishing Expo! No real fishing involved, but I'll at least get a bit of a fix to take me into Spring!

I actually own my favorite fishing hole. It's on my ranch and covers several acres. I just ordered some stocking fish. Although I already have a good base of fish, I ordered a hundred 8-10 inch Largemouth Bass, a hundred 6-8 inch Albino Catfish, and ten pounds of Fathead Minnows to augment the population.

The pond already has several varieties of panfish, several types of minnows, Yellow Perch, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, and Silver Carp.
