Fresh Water Fishing I have been fishing in the salt water and know what to do there however, my daughter wants to go fishing and I thought I would take her fresh water fishing. I have never been and so would love to have some insight on techniques and what to use for bait.

I'm glad to hear that your daughter is interested in fishing and I'd be glad to offer any advise that I can. I'm not an expert, but I do quite a bit of fishing here in NY. What species of fish and what water type will you be fishing?

Personally, I consider freshwater fishing a lot easier, at least on a lake. I loved fishing from the shoreline as a kid, and even the most rink-i-dink kid's rod caught me something!

We do a lot of fresh water fishing too on lakes. We just use plain old worms most of the time. What are using when you are salt water fishing? My daughter loves to fish too!

We also use worms as baits when we go fishing on the lake and we also have some flies that we use as alternate baits. Last edited by paloma; 03-11-2010 at 06:17 PM.

If you want a fairly easy to fish, like sun fish, bread works well. I used to use a mixture of flower, water and a little lemon juice that worked well. I've hard some people put corn flakes in their mixture.

I'm not sure if I can understand what you mean jason. Pardon me if my understanding is limited. What do you do with the flower, water and little lemon juice mixture? As for me, I use any insects that moves as baits for fishes on fresh water. Interestingly, I catch different types of fish using different kinds of baits. And yes, even moldy breads can attract a fish to bite.

Yeah, I was in a rush and instead of spelling flower as flour. You make a paste out of it. I usually about a cup of cooking flour into a bowl, put a few squirts of lemon juice (I buy the lemon juice that comes in the little squirt bottles that look like lemons), and start adding water until I have a good paste going. I usually mix it up as I go along.

Now that makes sense. Won't the water from the river dilute the paste when it is already in the water? I'm interested in doing this, can you give us the exact ratio of the mixture?
