There's a big pond in our local area where it is perfect to fish at day time. The problem is, there's so much weeds at the bottom at about two feet which makes it difficult for me to fish. What kind of baits or lures should I use?

Jason is right but there are other ways. If you're bobber fishing find the holes or fish just above the tops of the weeds. You can also use top water lures or fly fish it.
A spinnerbait works pretty well in the situation you described. Let it drop to just above the weeds and start reeling it in. If it hits the weeds the protected hook won't snag.
Fish like to hide in the weeds so you need to put whatever bait you are using right on top of the weeds. I would use a bobber and try your luck. I almost always only fish with worms.
I would guess the place is either badly kept or never kept up from the sounds of it. We have came across a few places like this and just moved to a better location instead of dealing with the hassle
