Default Time to shift gears

Well, it's finally too cold to take the boat out fishing any more this season. Time to shift gears and start tying flies again. Anybody tie their own flies?

Joe S,
You don't mention where you live. On Sat my house guest caught a 25 inch cutthroat trout at Pyramid Lake, NV. For winter fishing good canvas really helps on the boat, and the right clothes. You need a windshield wiper for snow. A propane heater and a backpacking stove for a hot lunch help also. Our best fishing is now until May.

Hi...

As a teenager, I used to tie flies. I enjoyed it very much...even though I never owned a fly rod...!!

I would...however..."dapple" for trout. That was merely tying a dry fly on the end of the conventional mono on my long bait casting rod, and letting the fly drop gently onto the water's surface. And, I caught trout...!!

Just don't ask me about the time I tried to make a canoe out of willow branches and some canvas...!!
