Does anyone every mess with crossbows? We are allowed to hunt with them at certain times during bow season and I use one when I can. I haven't ever been skilled enough to bring down an elk but I'm still trying.

My husband wants a crossbow but it's not in the budget right now. We need a new hunting rifle first. I think they are pretty cool but I've never shot one either.
Unfortunately crossbows are illegal to hunt with in WV. I wouldn't mind having one to mess around with. I've been thinking of making one out of an old fiberglass bow thats been sitting around here forever.
Not in the longest time and it was hard! I dated a guy years ago that was very into hunting to say the least and he tried to teach me. I failed miserably but I did not hit anything that was not a target, just bad at aiming.
I don't like carrying them because they can be impractical but they are, as dinosaur said, a lot of fun. I had one smaller as a kid and I have one know, in full size.
Had one when I was younger. Ton's of fun, we made explosive tips for the arrows. We watched way to much Dukes of Hazard. Also had a fishing attachment that worked pretty good. Some of the ones I see now are state of the art and big bucks.
