Default Hunting games

My nephew has asked for one of those hunting games to play on his WII, so I broke down and shelled out the bucks. I don't know much about games, but what purpose does it serve to pretend to shoot game on a game console when you could be outside practicing on a real-life target?

Helps with eye hand coordination. I would rather be outside shooting targets too, but I am old school. Rather we like it or not these games are here to stay and all we can do is try to regulate their time between the games and the real deal.

I have recently changed my opinion of all these games. I am scheduled for robotic surgery in a few weeks. So I asked the doctor who will be manning the joysticks if he was any good at these video games and he assured me, "I'm the best xbox 360 player in the entire state".

I hope he's right, Grandpa. I'll be pulling for ya to come out of it as a perfect specimen of successful surgery.

That's a good way of looking at it, Grandpa and all. One thing I don't have at all is good hand-eye coordination. These kids must really be sharp and quick on the draw. I'd definitely want my robot controller to have a steady hand if he were roaming around inside my body.

Call me old school but hunting is not a game. Better to walk in the woods and look for critters any day. Maybe it appeals to kids on a familiar level, but I am skeptical.

Old school or not you don't get to see & learn the ways of your prey from a game.
You don't get to experience nature's interactions from a game.
There is something about the feeling when you are holding on a big buck as he walks in on you, while you teach yourself to breath deeper & slower to slow you heart rate down to prevent buck fever. No game can teach you that.

Hi...

All the best regarding your surgury, Grandpa. I have a feeling that you'll do fine.

Regarding eye-hand coordination...I've found that mine differs. For example: I was, and probably still am, a pinball wizard...!! Yet, almost anybody could beat me at foosball. Go figure.
