Default Ruger 10/22 Takedown

Does anyone have the Ruger 10/22 Takedown yet? I haven't seen anything but excellent reviews on them, and I am thinking about getting my husband one for Christmas.

I've owned the standard 10/22 several years ago and really liked it. Now that I'm in the market for another .22, I am considering the take down version. It's hard to beat the 10/22!

I am thinking about getting one of these too. I have seen lots of good reviews on it, and my husband has mentioned that it would be an excellent Christmas present.

Gotta be better than that Armalite Survival rifle I got for a (justifiably) very low price.

I agree. I had two of them back in the seventies, they were not the best but not the worst either. I have seen the new ones and they are a much better quality than the ones I had back then. I still would like one, it would be a great last ditch weapon for the price. If I had to chose, the Ruger wins hands down! Just no beating the quality.

Well, maybe a last ditch weapon- I suppose you could use the barrel as a club..if it didn't bend....

I'm happy if I can fire a full magazine without a malfunction. I releived the feed ramp a bit and polished the chamber and got it kinda-sorta reliable. The sights suck pretty badly too.

I'd actually rather have something like this, I think: http://www.survival-gear-guide.com/M...val-Rifle.html

Honestly, a .357 Magnum with some shotshells handy would do a decent job as a survival weapon.

My first firearm was a 10/22. I got it almost 20 years ago (great, now I feel old). After some heavy upgrades I passed it on to my godson. I have no idea how many thousands of rounds have passed through that rifle (it's in the double digits), or how many people have enjoyed shooting it, but it has never needed repairs in two decades and my godson shot the cap off a coke bottle the other day when he was sighting in his new 12x scope at 100 yards. He was so excited he called me laughing.

The 10/22 is a great gun. I'll probably get another one.
