Default Slingshots Anyone?

OK, I want one and I was wondering is there a living person out there that still uses them, for fun or for anything else, like hunting. I don't want to buy some fancy expensive slingshot with designed metal frame, I just want a recommendation where I can buy high quality specialized rubber for it which I can use to make a wooden slingshot?

My dad used to make them for us when we were kids. Unfortunately, I don't remember where he got the rubber for it but I know he would find sticks and cut them for it.

I guess I will have to visit some specialized stores that may carry them. Anyway, look at this guy and his skills. Simply beautiful! YouTube - Carolina Camera: The Sling Shot Man

I have a Wrist Rocket slingshot. Folds up nicely at takes up the same amount of room as a regular slingshot. It's made of metal and surgical tubing with a small piece of leather that holds the projectile. I would think you can get surgical tubing most anywhere. Physical therapy clinics have it in different colors to denoted the tension.

Slingshots are excellent. Do you have a special use in mind for it, or is it just for fun? My grandson and I love to take ours to the lake and sling stones in the water.

There was a guy on TV that hunts with one. The show I saw him on was about hunting hogs. He shot one with a short arrow from a slingshot.

The guy in the video is amazing. And to think he used rocks is even more amazing. (They aren't uniform so how can he adjust?) We all made our slingshots at one time or another but never have I seen anyone with even a close semblance of skill as him. Couple of the boys have wrist rockets and even with uniform marbles need a 5 gal bucket for a target to hit often.

You can get rubber sheets from McMaster Carr. I use .03 thickness.
Also there is a great forum for sling shot shooters and makers called USA slingshot forum.
You'll find all the info you need on that forum.

A long drink of silence is a very good drink.

I keep telling my son that I am going to make a slingshot for the two of us to play with. I just haven't had the time. Now that I know where to get the rubber maybe it is time to make time.
